A law firm in Houston, TX is seeking a dedicated Patent Attorney to join its patent prosecution team. The successful candidate will possess a robust technical background and substantial experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications. This role demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: Draft and prosecute patent applications through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Conduct due diligence, including prior art searches, patentability assessments, and analysis. Collaborate with clients and internal teams to ensure precise and timely patent filings. Manage and prioritize multiple assignments from various partners and clients, ensuring deadlines are met. Prepare and file responses to Office Actions and other communications from the USPTO. Review and analyze patent portfolios to provide strategic advice and recommendations. Stay updated on changes in patent law and relevant technological advancements. Assist in preparing legal documents, reports, and intellectual property strategies. Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. 2-4 years of experience in patent prosecution, utilizing technical expertise to support clients in patenting their innovations. Registration to practice before the USPTO and Patent Bar eligibility required. If applicable, licensed to practice law in the respective state. Strong time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Exceptional attention to detail, writing skills, and analytical capabilities. Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. USPTO registration and Patent Bar eligibility required. State law practice license preferred but not mandatory. Skills: Expertise in drafting and prosecuting patent applications. Strong technical knowledge and understanding of relevant technologies.
