On Wednesday March 18th San Leandro Police responded to a frantic call from 7-Eleven employees who stated that he had just been assaulted by a local transient.
Police arrived to the store and could immediately notice that there had been some sort of altercation previously. Coffee, food and shelves laid scattered across the store.
The alleged attacker remained outside of the store yelling at the clerks through the window when the officers approached the building.
According to the report the suspect became violent when the 7-Eleven employees told him that he could not ask store patrons for money.
He then proceeded to punch one of the clerks in the chest multiple times and throw a hot cup of coffee all over the face of the other clerk.
The suspect was later identified as Oluwole Olugbemiga, 27, of Fremont. He is currently being held at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin with a bail of $5,000. He is facing multiple counts of misdemeanor assault and battery. Olugbemiga could also be charged with assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury, with the hot coffee to be considered as the weapon.
The victims were treated for their injuries and released the same day. The victims stated that they only asked the man to stop and did not expect such a violent response.
