Sexual Assaults in Berkeley
Posted on: 11/29/2015
Last week the University of California police started investigating the sexual assault and kidnapping of a young female student.
The victim was abducted around 6 p.m. from central campus and was taken to an unknown location where she sexually assaulted. The male suspect did not release the victim until early the next morning. She was able to make it back to campus and immediately reported the crime to the police.
Authorities have not released a description of the suspect and this is still an ongoing investigation.
In mid September around 1 a.m. UCPD received reports of a sex crime being committed on campus. The 28-year-old female victim had recognized one of the two male suspects from a previous encounter.
The suspects were charged with two counts of rape, kidnapping, sodomy and attempted oral copulation.
Over the last six months Berkeley police have responded to over 45 reports of sexual assault and the University of California Police Department has responded to 10.
Among the two sexual assault cases this month, local police agencies have denied to publicly announce any case details or suspects descriptions.
