Savage Murder in Fremont
Posted on: 11/01/2015
Late last month 31-year-old Omar Pettigen was arrested after his mother was found dead in her Fremont home. Local police were responding to a call from the victims ex-husband where he was concerned that he had not heard from her or their son for quite some time.
Once officers arrived to the home they happened to stumble upon what has been called the most gruesome murder in history of Fremont.
The victim Nailah Pettigen was found in her bedroom surrounded by a pool of blood and bloody footprints. She had multiple gunshot wounds to her head and torso, along with an ax wound in her head. Blood splatter covered the walls and the victims heart was removed and placed on her chest. A gun, knives and an ax were found beside her body and are believed to have been the murder weapons.
After an investigation, authorities found that there had been fighting in the home and the victim had been struggling with an addiction to prescription painkillers.
Pettigen had purchased a plane ticket to Chicago, but was staying at a hotel in San Francisco. He had his bloody clothes with him, admitted to the murder and stated that he expected to be found.
The suspect is currently being held in jail without bail. He is being charged with murder and the desecrating of human remains. Pettigen is also being charged with enhancements such as use of a deadly weapon and intentionally discharging a firearm causing great bodily injury.
