Job Description
REQUIREMENTS : High school diploma or GED required.Three years of driving experience hauling heavy equipment is required.A valid CDL driver's license or the ability to obtain one required.Must be able to drive a standard transmission vehicle.Must be able to pass a physical exam and drug screening test.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Drives a tractor-trailer rated at least 50 tons capacity in coordination with a co-driver to deliver and pick up machines at customer job sites and Stowers' locations.
Works closely with the assigned co-driver to optimize driving shifts, ensuring compliance with hours-of-service regulations and maintaining efficient delivery schedules.
Maintains all required licenses, health cards, and certifications necessary for legal and safe transport of equipment.
Ensures the safe operation of the tractor-trailer, adhering to all state and federal laws while operating the vehicle as part of a driving team.
Collaboratively manages log books with the co-driver to meet state and federal regulations, documenting all compensated "On Duty Time" worked for any entity.
Conducts thorough inspections of the tractor-trailer and associated equipment with the co-driver to ensure they are operationally safe and reliable for long-haul and local routes.
Assists in completing shipping and receiving documents for Stowers and customer records as part of the delivery process.
Secures all loads with necessary chains and binders, performing periodic checks along with the co-driver to ensure the safety and stability of transported goods.
Utilizes sound judgment, in partnership with the co-driver, to make safe driving decisions during adverse weather conditions and other potential hazards.
Performs basic emergency repairs, such as changing tires or installing tire chains, as needed while on the road, with co-driver assistance.
Instructs customers on the proper usage and maintenance of equipment upon delivery, ensuring they understand the operational requirements.
