Position Overview: Lowell Community Charter Public School is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our school health team immediately. The School Nurse will support the physical and emotional well-being of students, providing routine and emergency care, assisting in health-related education, and ensuring compliance with state health regulations.

Key Responsibilities: Health Care Services: - Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to physician orders and school policy.
- Conduct health screenings (e.g., vision, hearing, BMI) and follow up with families as needed.
- Monitor and assist students with chronic health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, and allergies.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all health-related services in compliance with confidentiality and state regulations.
Health Education and Support: - Educate students and staff on proper hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
- Support health education programs in collaboration with teachers and counselors.
- Assist with classroom accommodations for students with health-related needs.
Compliance and Reporting: - Maintain student health records, including immunizations and health histories, ensuring compliance with Massachusetts Department of Public Health requirements.
- Report communicable diseases as required by state law.
- Collaborate with parents, healthcare providers, and school staff to promote student health and wellness.
General Duties: - Support the School Nurse Leader in implementing school-wide health initiatives.
- Ensure the health office is stocked, clean, and ready for use.
- Participate in professional development and training as required.
Qualifications: Education and Licensure: - Active Massachusetts LPN license or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Experience in pediatric, school, or community health settings preferred.
Skills and Competencies: - Strong clinical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with children, parents, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in healthcare.
- Proficient in using electronic health record systems (or willingness to learn).
