We are now looking for a Robot Technician who will provide in-depth technical support for our robots as well as to our operators, handlers and partners. You will also execute start-of-day or end-of-day charging and cleaning of the robot fleet. You will know everything there is to know about our Starship robots and will be able to fix any technical problems they encounter – even if it requires flying it to the other side of the world for the day!

Your main responsibilities are:

Technical Tasks:

  • 70% Refurbishing Mechanical Components of the robot.
  • 5% Focus on maintaining the health of the robots through daily repairs and troubleshooting (Mechanical, electrical and electronics). Monitoring and servicing systems, diagnosing problems and troubleshooting equipment, running tests and completing reports, updating and improving existing systems, and repairing or replacing faulty equipment (tires, electronics, motors).
  • 5% Carrying out maintenance activities and upgrades on robots and chargers.
  • 10% Maintaining our hub-based warehouse and conducting regular inventories.

Operational Tasks:

  • 5% Observing robots remotely and being ready to assist robots in unexpected situations (accidents, field and Unforeseen failures). Reading repair manuals and liaising with other professionals. Report any issues to the onsite team and create a failure ticket.
  • 5% Transporting the robot to delivery areas by ebike or foot (which may include some occasional lifting of up to 70 lbs).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A passion for robots and innovative technologies.
  • Basic knowledge of Unix, SSH /Linux systems, CLI tools and scripting.
  • Previous experience with Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Ability to travel. May need to travel up to 20% of your time as part of your regular duties to assist as we expand launching new Universities.
  • Ability to multitask and liaise with professionals in different fields.
  • Ability to explain problems simply and clearly.

Experience & Education Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux systems, CLI tools, and scripting preferred, but not required.
  • Hobby projects in electronics or mechanics.
  • Previous experience in managing a large fleet of devices.

Physical Requirements:

  • Office work.
  • Movement ability to frequent usage of wrists, hands and finger dexterity to movements such as constant typing.
  • Occasional lifting of items with weight up to 70 lbs.
