Neuro-Oncology Assistant Professor, Clinician Educator, Pediatric Oncology

The Division of Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of neuro-oncology, neurofibromatosis type 1, and neurofibromatosis type 2. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Board-certified/eligible in pediatric hematology/oncology.

Teaching responsibilities may include didactic and clinical instruction of junior faculty, residents, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, and medical students. Favorable teaching evaluations are desirable.

Clinical responsibilities may include serving as attending physician on the dedicated neuro-oncology inpatient service and providing outpatient care to children, adolescents and young adults with brain tumors and neurofibromatosis. Candidates should have completed a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship and a dedicated neuro-oncology fellowship, have at least 2 years of experience as an attending physician in Neuro-Oncology after completion of fellowship training, and have at least 2 years of experience caring for children with neurofibromatosis. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing patients with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2), and the tumors associated with these genetic diseases.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include expanding translational and clinical research efforts in NF1-associated gliomas and nerve sheath tumors. The successful applicant will be academically productive and collaborative. The successful candidate must have a strong record of research productivity related to NF1-asscociated gliomas and nerve sheath tumors, an established record of peer-reviewed scholarship, and extramural grant funding. Experience in epidemiology and developing/working with large institutional and multicenter databases to conduct NF1 research is strongly preferred.
