This is a Clinical Research Assistant position participating in the Pediatric Orthopedic Medical Career Development Scholar Program (MCDSP). The Pediatric Orthopedic Medical Career Development Scholar Program at Boston Children's Hospital is a competitive, two-year program designed for recent college graduates with a passion for pursuing a career in pediatric orthopedics. This immersive program offers scholars the unique opportunity to work closely with renowned orthopedic surgeons, researchers, and educators, providing a comprehensive exploration of clinical, research, and leadership aspects of pediatric orthopedics. Scholars will gain invaluable skills and insights into medical research, clinical practice, patient care, and career development, all while contributing to cutting-edge clinical and research work. Responsibilities of this Clinical Research Assistant - MCDSP include: Research Focus: Clinical Research: Scholars will coordinate and facilitate clinical research, including subject recruitment, IRB submissions, data analysis, and manuscript preparation. Study Design: Exposure to research methodology, data analytics, statistical analysis, and clinical science study design. Research Ethics & Protections: Training in research ethics, subject protection protocols, and maintaining multicenter registries. Clinical Exposure: Scholars will assist in orthopedic clinics, acting as scribes during patient visits and gaining direct exposure to patient histories, physical exams, lab data interpretation, and clinical decision-making. Scholars will work directly with leading orthopedic surgeons, attending lectures, case reviews, and research conferences. Educational Opportunities: Lectures covering orthopedic topics, research methodologies, and the latest in pediatric orthopedics. Conferences & Seminars: Case reviews, journal clubs, and Visiting Professor events for exposure to leading experts. Research Opportunities: Co-authorship of medical journal articles and presentations at regional and national orthopedic conferences. Mentorship: Scholars will be paired with faculty mentors who are prominent in pediatric orthopedics. Regular meetings and coaching sessions will guide scholars as they navigate both their research projects and career paths in medicine. To qualify, you must have: Bachelor's Degree in STEM or Psychology is required. The analytical skills to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles. The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
