Job Description
ROLE:
Under the supervision of the Associate Dean for Student Life, the Associate Director for Orientation & Student Activities will run Orientation, supervise the PAL Coordinator and Orientation Coordinators and Peer Advising Leaders, run first-year experience programs, assist with student events, activities and support the success of student clubs and organizations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
Orientation and Week of Welcome
Oversee and implement new student orientations (fall & spring), Week of Welcome (WOW) and participate in Admissions Events as a Student Affairs representative throughout the year
Manage relationships with on and off-campus stakeholders (i.e. Admissions, University Services, Athletics, vendors)
Hire, train, and supervise Peer Advisor Leaders (PALs), Orientation Coordinators, First Year Experience (FYE) Interns, and Transfer Mentors
Meet weekly with orientation coordinators (summer/fall) to plan events and evaluate programs.
Attend weekly 1:1 meetings with supervisor
Manage the budget for Orientation and the Peer Advising Program
Communicate & collaborate with all staff, faculty, and student leaders about WOW plans and their responsibilities
Assess orientation experience and implement feedback
First-Year Experience Programs Partner with Rho Resident Director to support first-year programming in the residence halls
Coordinate FYE shuttle system
Run "first six weeks" of welcome programming for new students
Oversee Rho Commons Study Nights
Maintain and update Golden Eagle Guide: New Student Handbook
Plan and attend a Freshman Retreat- expected to be over Labor Day Weekend
Student Activities Leadership Assist in the planning and execution of major campus events and traditions
Support & develop student leaders on Student Activities and ASCUI teams
Advise ASCUI club commissioner and ensure the success of student clubs and organizations
Manage CSLD inventory and storage system
Serve on student life committee
Attend student leadership supervisor/director meetings
Digital Calendar and Resource Management Partner with campus tech and Pathify vendor to manage MyCUI platform
Run First-Year Experience social media account
Other Responsibilities: Active member of Student Affairs Staff
Assess program activity based on SLO standards and desired departmental outcomes
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Must possess a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
Master's degree in a related field (education or behavior sciences preferred)
2+ years of experience in higher education programming is required
Full Time Exempt, 11 Months
$63,360/yr
