Job Summary POSITION SUMMARY Functions as Activity Director for Mary, Queen and Mother Center. Responsible for implementing social, recreational, and educational activities for individuals and groups. Develops a stimulating program that includes outside resources and utilizes residents' talents, considering their dignity and the Center's philosophy. Pay Range $60,258.00-67,450.00 DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Manage and operate the department; plan, promote, implement, and evaluate activities. Implement licensure, certification, and other requirements. Develop and evaluate policies and procedures; prepare and submit yearly plans and budgets. Assess new residents and develop individual activity plans; review and adapt plans as needed. Supervise and evaluate the use of the activity room. Develop organizational structure, policies, procedures, job descriptions, and work schedules. Develop an activity manual. Consult and work with Human Resources. Participate in hiring actions for department employees. Evaluate department employees and train staff for disaster preparedness. Direct daily performance of department employees; communicate policies. Use safety techniques and infection control practices; ensure compliance. Plan and evaluate department in-service programs. Supervise volunteers, including orientation and task assignment; establish effective relationships with other departments. Participate in department and interdepartmental meetings. Obtain bids and make routine purchases as per budget procedures. Schedule regular meetings with the Administrator. Ensure staff follows HR policies and procedures. Maintain skill level through in-services. Operate and maintain the facility gift shop. Perform other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Ability to perform physical and sensory aspects of the position. College degree in Recreational Therapy. Eligibility for certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or Activity Professional. Two years of experience in a social or recreation program, with at least one year in a health care setting. Ability to coordinate with facility and community services. Excellent written and verbal skills. Ability to manage the department, develop budgets, order supplies, and create cooperation with other departments. CDL license required. Ability to train, guide, and evaluate employees. Knowledge of corporate and facility policies and regulations. Ability to perform within regulatory guidelines. Experience with crafts, games, and social programs for senior adults. SKILLS & ATTITUDES REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS Patience, tact, understanding, and a cheerful attitude. Genuine interest in motivating the elderly. Good physical and emotional health. Ability to control emotions, handle stress, and maintain a positive attitude toward frail senior adults. RELATIONSHIPS REQUIREMENTS Work with all departments and residents daily. RESOURCES FOR WHICH ACCOUNTABLE Supervise 4 Activity Assistants and approximately 35 volunteers. Serve up to 200 residents. Accountable for departmental budget. PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING All candidates receiving an employment offer must submit a pre-employment screening. The screenings will include criminal background check and other background checks (as needed), Family Care Safety Registration, drug screen, an employment and education or licensure/certification verification, and Covid-19 and Influenza vaccination. Various positions will require physical examination, Tuberculosis screening, and Hepatitis A. All offers are contingent upon successful completion of required screening.
