About Mimico Cruising Club:

Mimico Cruising Club is a private yacht club located in South Etobicoke, offering a full range of member services and social activities. With a rich history and vibrant membership, the Club is committed to delivering exceptional experiences both on and off the water. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Club Accountant to join our team.

Position Overview:

The Club Accountant will play a pivotal role in overseeing all financial operations at Mimico Cruising Club. As a stand-alone position, you will be responsible for managing the club's financial records, ensuring accurate reporting, and providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys working in the hospitality and recreational sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of financial management, including day-to-day accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to senior management, the Board of Directors, and relevant committees.
• Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard club assets and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and monitor actual performance against budget throughout the year.
• Manage financial audits and liaise with external auditors to ensure timely completion of the annual audit.
• Administer and oversee all banking and cash management functions.
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support club initiatives and projects.
• Work closely with department heads to develop financial strategies that optimize club operations and improve member satisfaction.
• Support membership billing processes and ensure accurate and timely invoicing.
• Ensure compliance with government tax and regulatory filings (e.g., HST, payroll remittances, WSIB, etc.).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA designation preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a similar role in the hospitality, club, or marina sectors.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and accounting software.
• Excellent understanding of Canadian tax regulations, payroll management, and compliance requirements.
• Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to collaborate with club management, staff, and board members.
