Drunk Driver Hits Bus With Elderly Passengers

Earlier this month a 34-year-old male slammed into a bus while driving under the influence. After striking the bus the suspect fled from the scene.
The accident happened at about 5 p.m. on Castro Valley Boulevard. Eyewitness reports stated that the suspect was seen driving a Mercedes-Benz.
The bus had been transporting elderly citizens when it was struck by the suspect. Luckily only one suspect sustained some minor injuries.
Authorities have not disclosed the name of the suspect, but they were able to track down the suspect within 24 hours of the incident.
Once he was found he was booked into Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. The suspect will be facing charges of suspected driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license.
DUI or DWI charges that involve bodily injury to anyone other than the driver could result in jail time. Bodily injury charges would likely increase a misdemeanor DUI into a felony charge. The blood alcohol content of the suspect is also a contributing factor when a judge is determining sentencing.
