Livermore CA Police Officers Respond to Multiple Reports of Bank Robbery Attempt

Posted on: 10/14/2016

Last week, Livermore residents were shocked to find out that an unidentified suspect fled the scene after trying to rob a bank at gunpoint. According to a report issued by local law enforcement representatives on October 4, Livermore Police Department officers responded to multiple reports of an armed robbery case that took place on October 1 around noon.

The Suspect Tried to Rob the Bank at Gunpoint

The suspect targeted US Bank situated on 2125 Second St., and entered the building holding a firearm. According to witness reports backed by security camera footage, the male suspect displayed the gun to intimidate the teller, and requested money. The LPD Dispatch responded to several 911 calls signaling the incident, and arrived at the scene in a matter of a few minutes. They set up a perimeter and questioned witnesses, who told the police that a male suspect tried to rob the bank at gunpoint.

Aside from the fact that the suspect didn’t manage to reach his goal, he also left a few traces that may help police officers establish his identity. For starters, the detailed descriptions offered by witnesses and the photos provided by the surveillance cameras placed inside the bank are valuable clues that may lead to an arrest over a short period of time.

Livermore CA Police Officers Have Created a Suspect Profile for Their Investigation

Livermore CA police officers now know that the suspect is a medium built, 6’-00’’ tall, Hispanic man. On the day of the robbery attempt, he was wearing a red and white plaid shirt, jeans and a baseball cap. Currently, this incident is under investigation, so police representatives won’t make any further statements regarding the robbery at this time. Under these circumstances, LPD representatives are asking locals who may have additional information regarding this recent event to get in touch with the police officers who are investigating the case by calling 925-371-4848.

This recent robbery attempt took Livermore CA residents by surprise, in spite of the fact that their city is far from being one of the safest urban areas in the U.S. As it turns out, according to recent statistics, the crime rate in this part of the country is significantly higher than the national average. However, at a little more than 20 crimes per 1,000 occupants, Livermore cannot be listed among one of the U.S.-based communities with the highest crime rates. Crime rate reports reveal that the chance of becoming the victim of property crime or violent crime in this city is 1 in 46. Once identified by police officers, the suspect in this case will be taken into custody for questioning, and may require the support of a company specialized in Livermore bail bonds.
