Posted on: 11/25/2014
In June of 2014 Donzale Mejia, 23, of Oakland was arrested in Berkeley for his involvement in a shooting that left two men wounded. He was released shortly after and no charges were filed. The District attorney’s office did not provide any information as to why they did not file charges against Mejia.
Last week Mejia was shot multiple times in the Mosswood Park Preforming Arts Center parking lot around noon on Wednesday. The suspect fired multiple rounds, hit a passing city van and shattered the passenger side window. No other injuries were reported and the suspect was seen fleeing in a pickup truck.
Meija later died in the hospital.
